The SOSEG Fest is a regional event for Cultural Arts and Entertainment that will take place at Headliners in Toledo, OH on March 31, 2012. Many different visual and performing arts will be on display and showcased at this 8 hour event filled with fun and excitement. The SOSEG Fest is an event put together to provide cultural arts awareness and entertainment for the greater Toledo area. Our second large event since we began operations in January of 2011 was Stand Up Toledo. This was a comedy event set up to showcase 10 Local comedians at the Maumee Indoor Theater on January 15, 2012. The night started out slow and the weather seemed to be cooperative. Before we knew it, the line began to build in the lobby of the Theater. When the official ‘door open’ time reached, the people flooded into the theater and filled the seats. Before 8pm and the show officially started, there were very few seats remaining and people were still coming through the doors.

The comedians that took the stage really set a great vibe for those in attendance, as well as created an all new awareness for local comedy. Chili Challis (the Host) entertained the crowd at the beginning of the show as well as between each comedian and really made the show ‘pop’ with his comedic stage presence. Each comedian delivered about 15 minutes of great comedy and the entertainment factor never slowed throughout the entire 3 hour event, which is almost unheard of.

The only complaint we ended up getting was that there was no Alcoholic beverages available for the attendees. This is a minimal concern considering all of the other aspects of the event and the complete satisfaction of the majority in attendance. Next year we are considering the option of Alcoholic beverages. Yes, that’s right, there will definitely be a 2013 Stand Up Toledo and it will definitely be at the Maumee Indoor Theater again.  The official attendance count of the first Annual Stand Up Toledo was 463 people.

Computer Discount Gives Back!

During the final weeks of 2011 Computer Discount and LAPuTOPia conducted an online contest. The Prize: A Free Lap Top. That’s right, a FREE LAPTOP! No purchase necessary, no prior customer history, no politics, just pure caring for their service and community.

The Facebook post read:
Attention Facebook friends! Computer Discount is giving away a new laptop this holiday season! Get creative and you could win yourself a brand spanking new laptop!

Create a music video which tells a story about how amazing/fantastic/pick-another-favorite-adjective Computer Discount and/or LAPuTOPia are and post it to our Facebook page between now and 12/31/2011.

The judges will evaluate each entry for creativity, quality and overall niftiness and select a winner!

Several videos were submitted throughout the first week, but not enough to satisfy the contest guidelines. It wasn’t untill the final day that the 10th video was submitted and the contest was ON! So many different types of videos were submitted showing love for computers and promoting the Local business. But only one of them could be selected as the winner. On Tuesday January 3rd Computer Discount and LAPuTOPia held true to their word and gave away a Free Gateway Lap Top Computer to Jason Kelley and Laura Spiess.
